It often occurs that an individual’s psychological functioning becomes relevant in a legal proceeding. In these situations, courts typically call upon a trained forensic psychologist to help explain what is going on psychologically in legal terms and to aid the court in making good decisions. The forensic psychologist plays a unique and important role in assessing the individual and translating the observed behaviors and circumstances for users of the information in the legal system.

Dr. Duncan has been asked to perform forensic services in a variety of legal proceedings, including child custody and dependency cases, disputes concerning the education of the disabled, abuse investigations, criminal and delinquency proceedings, and personal injury cases. She works with attorneys, judges, and other forensic psychologists to assist the legal process.
